If you thought the legendary Chevrolet Silverado line of pickups couldn’t get any better, think again. At the Work Truck Show in Indianapolis in March, the automaker unveiled the brand-new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 4500HD, 5500HD, and 6500HD heavy-duty trucks, marking the first time the Silverado name has been applied to Chevrolet’s largest class of trucks.
Available as chassis cab trucks, the new Silverado 4500HD, 5500HD, and 6500HD will bring premium Silverado capability to drivers who need a truck capable of heavy-duty commercial use. The biggest of the new Silverados, the 6500HD, will be able to haul an amazing 26,000 pounds, which is more than double the towing capacity of the powerful 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500.
All three new Silverado chassis cab trucks will be available with rear- or four-wheel drive, an advanced Allison transmission, and a seriously potent 6.6-liter Duramax Diesel engine capable of 350 horsepower and 700 lb-ft of torque. Developed in conjunction with heavy-truck specialist Navistar, the 2018 Silverado 4500HD, 5500HD and 6500HD models are a huge step in the evolution of America’s most dependable line of pickups.
The new Silverado heavy-duty trucks won’t go on sale until later this year, but at Frederick Chevrolet, we believe it’s never too early to get excited about such an incredible new line of pickups.
