Earlier this year, General Motors began its “Real People, Not Actors” campaign, showing how “normal” people use GM vehicles. As the latest part of this advertising campaign, the American carmaker launched a new 60-second commercial for the all-new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, and it’s caught the eye of a very famous person.
The advertisement shows a unique take on Donny and Marie Osmond’s beloved hit, “A Little Bit Country, A Little Bit Rock ‘n’ Roll.” Throughout the commercial, the song isn’t just playing in the background — instead, the real Silverado drivers who are featured speak the lyrics to the classic song.
Osmond caught on to this commercial and expressed his interest on Twitter in giving the pickup truck a test drive. He tweeted, “If you put Donny Osmond in a #Silverado, will that make the truck more rock ‘n’ roll? I’ve never owned a Chevy #Silverado, but it sounds like it’s time to test one out. What do you say, Chevrolet? Can you make it happen?”
The ad campaign showcases the everyday Joe —ranchers, families, business people, soldiers, rodeo clowns, and construction workers. While celebrities aren’t included in the original ad campaign, Osmond has since posted a remixed version of the commercial. He incorporated video clips of himself and his sister, Marie, singing the original “A Little Bit Country, A Little Bit Rock ‘n’ Roll”.
While Chevy hasn’t responded to Osmond’s interest just yet, the singer’s fans have been tweeting their support. They have been tweeting selfies with their own Silverado trucks, singing the vehicle’s praises to the singer.
If Donny Osmond and Chevrolet do decide to partner up, it would certainly be a unique team. Here’s hoping Osmond becomes one of the celebrities who get to represent this American car brand.
